Battle of Wits
On a rainy monsoon day, the 1st of September 2020, CLLB hosted a quiz for O-level and A-level students. Lawque quizzed students on the basics of the law, and they were provided with study material for their prep for the quiz.
Fortunately for us, we had organized it in the campus café. A vibrant and fun space that all the fifteen participants comfortably.
We started with brief intros and a hurried group photo in the rain outside, before settling back in the café to begin the quiz. The Executive Director (ED) Dilawar Khan welcomed the students and shared the vision of CLLB, and his insights on planning and building a career in law. as a career and his professional journey. Lighthearted banter to set a fun mood for the game, even though it was for a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and some of the participants, Mahroona and Zovia in particular, were bent over their notes till the last mini-second.
Fast-forward through round one, two, three and four and we came to the final round, a face-off between the two finalists, Ahmed Farzan (A-levels student from Beaconhouse School System) and Salar Farid (A-levels student from City School). A tense round ensued, with the lights dimmed, the pitter patter of rain outside. The ED fired question after question at the finalists. The boys were head to head, neither had gotten a single answer wrong through the entire game.In the last five questions, Salar only got one answer wrong. Ahmad won by a single point. Ahmad was awarded his well-deserved prize. Everyone stayed on to speak to the ED, share their life stories and what they wish from their education, their schools and their cities.
By 7pm, the group photograph that was taken earlier was printed and added to a package of CLLB stationary prepared for each participant as a token of gratitude. Lastly, all the students signed a group photo for CLLB as a keepsake to end the evening on a sweet note.
