Bar Transfer Test (BTT)

We are now conducting the Bar Transfer Course, a preparatory course to help you pass the Bar Transfer Test (BTT), which takes place in the UK.

This route allows you an exemption opportunity from the extremely demanding Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) and the academic stage (7 subjects). This route allows you to get trained for the Bar while you continue your practice in Pakistan.

For a few months to appear in Bar transfer test & attend 10 qualifying sessions. After doing this
you will return back as a Barrister.

PATHWAY TO BECOMING A BARRISTER

  • Fill in a form for the Bar Transfer Course.
  • CLLB will apply to qualification committee of Bar Standard Board (BSB) of England & Wales on your behalf to seek an exemption from the Academic and Vocational training of the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), on the basis of being a qualified foreign lawyer.
  • As you await the Grant of exemption you will be able to enroll in the Bar Transfer Course at CLLB and begin preparing for the BTT taking place in London.
  • After your exemption has been granted, CLLB will apply for membership on your behalf to one of the four Inns of Court.
  • Once your Bar Transfer Course at CLLB has completed, CLLB will apply on your behalf to BPP university (sole provider of BTT) for your registration to sit the exam which takes place twice a year (i.e., March/April or August/September).
  • Once all these steps have been completed and you have passed the exam as well as attended 10 qualifying sessions at your respective Inn you will be eligible to be called to the Bar of England & Wales as a Barrister.

Eligibility requirements

You are eligible to apply for this training if you:

  • Are a qualified lawyer who has license to appear in courts.
  • Hold a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB).

Why do you have three deadlines? What’s the difference between the first priority, early, and regular deadlines?

We give priority to early applicants who are ready and have a plan to study for their Bar exam.

Round 1: First Priority Round

If you want to secure a spot in our upcoming session, the benefit for applying in the First Priority Round is that

  • (a) We give priority to applicants who apply early, and
  • (b) You are also eligible to secure up to 35% scholarship based on our assessment

Round 2: Early Round

For Early Round applicants, you have a little more time to apply. Again, the sooner you apply, the sooner we can review your application. You can also secure up to 15% scholarship in the early round.

Round 3: Regular Round

The regular round applicants can apply, if they couldn’t apply in Priority and Early Rounds. No scholarship is available for applicants in this round.
