The Unhealthy One – Izza!
Hey, Izza here. I am a student of English literature, sixth semester, in the University of Peshawar. I chose literature because I have always been fond of beautiful pieces of writing. Something about the way books and poems are written so artistically, that you can relate to them on so many levels really attracted me, so I figured how cool would it be to actually major in something you love so much (sadly, a concept unknown to most people in society)
Let’s do rapid Q&A!
Yess, sounds interesting.
I eat: Junk food that I get obsessed with during a specific frame of time. Recent most recent obsession is hot flaming Cheetos.
I drink: I wish I could say water and fresh juices and sound like a healthy person but I guess it’s bad to lie; so, coke, that’s it.
Hangout spot on campus: *in the most obvious tone* the café.
What are 3 skills you learnt in your BS?
Being able to read through the lines, thinking (to the point it sometimes throws me into an existential crisis, but in a good way; if that makes sense), and writing.
What did you want to become as a kid?
A teacher. Yes, I was one of those typical kids who thought it’s so cool writing on the white board, and checking notebooks with a red pen.
Your favorite book/show:
Favorite book would be ‘The power of five’ by Anthony Horrowitz because that was the first book that ever made me cry. And my favorite show is Nikita. Also, whoever is reading this right now, go watch that show right now!!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
With the amount of junk, I eat, I am just hoping I am still alive in 5 years.
What’s the best thing about an English degree? / biggest benefit: It improves your analyzation and critical thinking skills immensely.
You joined CLLB during COVID-19. Talk about your experience.
I joined CLLB in December, when Covid-19 was more or less at its peak. A friend shared their internship program with me. I had been on the lookout for good internships for quite some time so I immediately joined. So far, I’ve worked in the photography classes, art and design classes, assistance and editing of the prompts, and a vlog of the campus.
I feel like it was a really good decision for me to join the internship at CLLB during the Covid times because honestly staying at home, with universities and basically any social situation being shut, it proved to be a good distraction.
What’s an accomplishment you’re most proud of
I think freelancing and being able to earn for myself would have to be it.
Pick a mascot for CLLB?
A pigeon in a suit.
