The world in general and our region, country and province in particular has endured greatly in the recent past. Whether it has been earthquakes, floods or terrorism, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have survived it all and come out stronger. Indeed, we have persisted in the face of great loss; loss of our dear ones, economic activity, demographic displacement, and flight of human resource and capital. And while we cannot forget our past, our motto is “not to look back in remorse but to look forward in hope.

To this effect, we at the Centre for Learning Law and Business (CLLB) are investing in the future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by paving the way forward for its youth. Through this venture, we are looking for a way to pay back to our community what we owe to our country. The primary objective of establishing CLLB is not to prosper financially but to be a source of knowledge for the region. Our resolve is to prepare a cluster of young future leaders in the fields of law and business, who are not only educated and knowledgeable but also good human beings with the ability to carry with them the whole community, to be beacons for the rest, and to engage others to serve the region, who should not just memorise a few passages, facts and theories but should be able to think and come up with a few of their own.

Borrowing the words of Abraham Lincoln, our commitment is what will transform this promise into reality. Our region is placed at the crossroads of civilisations with enormous potential and huge opportunities. These prospects are not to be missed. We need to equip our community, particularly our youth with the necessary tools to make the best of God-sent openings.

The decision to combine law and business studies at CLLB was inspired by the great men of our history, none being more noteworthy than the Prophet Muhammad (MPBUH) who was not only an exceptional businessman but also a pre-eminent lawgiver. Another parallel of this combination can also be witnessed in the life of our country’s distinguished architect – Muhammad Ali Jinnah who came from a business background, became an exceptional lawyer, and used his talents to influence the creation of Pakistan.

We use these great leaders as our motivation for establishing an educational centre for law and business studies that continuously strives for academic excellence and that places the personal and professional well-being of our students above all else. As Warren Buffet said, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.” CLLB will consistently endeavor to ensure that it never has those 5 minutes. The faculty at CLLB has been handpicked after vigorous scrutiny and labour. Every member is top of the line in her/his area of expertise and passionate about educating the next generation of leaders.

We make a solemn promise that CLLB will never betray the trust bestowed upon it by the students and their parents. I have spent a lifetime (44 years) in public service and I can say this with great pride that I have always given my best to whatever task was assigned to me. I have transformed a number of dormant organisations (both public and social) and taken them to their rightful places. I am not going to change that now. I will use all my skills to make CLLB not an institution but THE institution. When, after completion of their studies, our youth leaves the gates, they will not only be masters in their professions but also symbols of trust.
