Legal and Policy Research Society (LPRS)

The Legal and Policy Research Society (LPRS) is the research wing of CLLB dedicated to research on subjects related to legal and policy. The LPRS is also mandated to involve the students and faculty of CLLB, faculties of other educational institutions, as well as legal and policy experts in its research endeavors through the following activities:

  • Organizing on-campus conferences, seminars, and workshops;
  • Conducting joint research projects with like-minded institutions;
  • Publishing research articles on legal and policy issues in the form of books and periodicals;
  • Building the capacity of the students of CLLB in conducting research; and
  • Assisting the students of CLLB in getting published in newspapers and research journals.

The LPRS is led by a dynamic team of professionals with loads of experience in the field.

Head of LPRS

Aarish U. Khan

Mr. Aarish U. Khan is the Director of the LPRS. He is an accomplished specialist in the fields of communication, research, and development with over 17 years of relevant experience. He is currently working as the Editor of the research journal Regional Studies at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Islamabad. Alongside his commitments at IRS, Mr. Khan is a senior executive on the board of an Islamabad-based not-for-profit organization CODE PAKISTAN established in May 2014. Previously, Mr. Khan has worked as a Research Analyst at IRS and as a Political Specialist at a high profile diplomatic mission in Islamabad. He has also worked at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), wherein he authored SIPRI’s Policy Paper No. 11 titled The Terrorist Threat and Policy Response in Pakistan. Mr. Khan has traveled extensively all over Pakistan and has also traveled to China, India, Iran, Norway, Sweden, Thailand, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (U.S.). He is a family man, an admirer of nature’s wonders, and an avid reader.

Saba Imran

Saba Imran is a part of the LPRS team. With over 10 years of dedicated experience to research and development in legal and policy areas, she is skilled in piloting high-quality research performance and growth. In her current role as the Director of Programs at CODE PAKISTAN, she manages the strategic operation of several research and social action projects. She has lived and worked in a number of different countries around the world with organizations that include Oxford Policy Management, the Institute of Strategic Studies and UNHCR. She spent several years living in the United Kingdom (UK) where she completed her undergraduate degree in law with honours and pursued further study in political science with a Master’s degree in international relations.

Vice President CLLB Law Society

Sara Aziz

Sara Aziz, LLB graduate of Islamia College, is a practicing advocate of Peshawar High Court. She works as a Research Associate of Forensic Law course, an initiative of CLLB, Khyber Medical University and Khyber Medical College.

Sarah also holds a degree in International Relations, and has previously worked with International Committee of the Red Cross, Peoples Primary Health Care Initiative (PPHI) and Elementary Education Foundation (EEF).

She is currently pursuing her LLM from University of London at CLLB, and serves as a Vice President of CLLB’s Law Society.

Researcher, Admission and Coordination Officer

Attiya Bakhtiar

Attiya Bakhtiar is the Admission and Coordination officer at CLLB. She has completed her LLB and LLM in Public International Law, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in International Dispute Resolution, from the University of London. She has since then interned at the Office of the Attorney General for Pakistan, where along with legal work, she was appointed as the country liaison officer and mediator for Turkey at the Economic Cooperation Organization Attorneys and Prosecutors General Summit of 2018. She has also served as a research associate at CODE PAKISTAN where she has had the privilege of working with international organizations like UNHCR, ICRC and Facebook Inc.

Research Associate

Aneesa Sarshar

Aneesa Sarshar is part of the research team at LPRS team. She started her legal career less than 5 years ago but has gained an immense amount of experience within this time span. She is a Research Associate at CODE PAKISTAN who graduated from the University of London. Studying human rights law provided her with a passion to pursue a career in policymaking. She has worked with multiple human-rights based NGOs and was previously an associate at a reputable law firm in Pakistan. Through her work at CODE PAKISTAN, she has been able to develop her research, communication and analytical skills due to far-reaching projects that she was a part of, such as policies related to Afghan refugees in collaboration with UNHCR and collaborating with the Federal Judicial Academy on different research studies etc.

She believes that research is one of the most crucial steps in order to go forward and better our ways and strongly believes in the quote by Erwin Schrödinger; ‘Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and think what nobody has thought.
