Master of Laws (LLM)

CLLB provides you the opportunity to receive an LLM degree in one of 4 specialisations, namely, International Criminal Justice, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Public International Law and Human Rights Law. Alternatively, CLLB also offers you the option to select a general LLM qualification. Your overall programme structure will consist of 4 courses, comprising 4 modules each, adding to a total of 16 modules. You have the option to complete your course over a period of 1-5 years. For all modules under this programme, assessment is conducted through 45-minute examinations.

Awarding Body and Academic Direction
The awarding body for the Postgraduate Laws programme is the University of London, whereas the academic direction for the programme is provided jointly by the Department of Law of Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), one of the UK’s leading research-focused higher education institutions with the prestigious St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, London Hospital Medical College, Westfield College and Queen Mary College being its founding institutions, and the Faculty of Laws at University College London (UCL), which boasts not only sheer academic excellence since 1826, but an impressive list of 29 Nobel laureates from amongst its accomplished array of Alumni.

Master of Laws (LLM), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert)
Students accepted to the Postgraduate Laws programmes start at three points of entry, namely at Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) or LLM. It is your choice to leave the programme with a PGCert, PGDip or LLM, provided you complete within a maximum of five years for the LLM, or four years for the PGDip or PGCert.

Once you complete the requirements of the PGCert or PGDip, you may progress to the higher award (PGDip or LLM) and simply complete the additional modules necessary to achieve the higher award.

To complete a qualification, you must take the following number of courses and modules:

PGCert – Five modules from up to four courses.
PGDip – 10 modules from up to four courses.
Master of Laws (LLM) – 16 modules from four courses.
